Current Project: Tree Lawn Beautification

When purchasing trees keep certain things in mind, such as the tree shape, color in Spring and Fall, height and width.  Fruit bearing trees are not allowed.

City Requirements. You may plant any tree lawn tree that you wish providing it is on the approved City list and meets the following requirements:

  1. Tree clearance must be 9 feet above sidewalks and 14 feet above streets.
  2. Tree plantings must be no closer than 10 feet from a water hydrant or 35 feet from a street corner, and  when planting more than one tree in a tree lawn keep 30 feet between trees.
  3. Tree lawn species approved by the City include 40 different varieties.
  4. Other varieties of trees may be planted elsewhere on your property. Please note certain species are declared “public nuisances” per Ordinance 1030.07: silver maple, honey locust, poplar, basswood, box elder, catalpa and willow.

Bulk Purchase. We have negotiated a bulk purchase of trees and provided info on each species available. Please click on the name of of the tree to view a photo of the specimen and pertinent information.
